A Loving Purpose

Perhaps a man knows he has found his purpose in life when he stops obsessing about how he should try and live life to the fullest and just thrive at being alive.

If one is called to be a writer, a chef of words per se, or a poet—he should probably turn a blind eye towards trying to write with perfection and inspiring everyone and just allow an inner harmony to move through him as he situates himself within his creative state of being.

But if one is not called to be either, or any of the above, the harder he tries to force his creative hand, the farther he strays off the course from his own true nature.

He will then find himself in a constant state of anxiousness about how to create absolute beauty, and in the process, he will forget altogether how to write in harmony with himself. He’ll be left to his own devices, while scratching his head, as to wondering what his life’s purpose truly is.

Because when we do not live up to, or focus on our true purpose in life, distracting thoughts devour our daily routine. Our thoughts then begin to create these false narratives as an alternative to true meaning, pulling us farther away from the shores of the reality where we are our truest self.

We tend to think so much about which artistic direction to take, that it pulls us further away from our genuine creative self, and from there we drown in the depths of the false realities that we create along the way and all the overthinking that comes along with it.

it is when we find ourselves drowning in the depths of a metaphor that the voice of our consciousness mumbles incoherently.

But as we fight back, swimming up to the surface of our truest self, gasping for air, our inner voice starts to speak out loud again and crystal clear. And in the fullness of a few deep breaths—the answer we seek usually arrives right on schedule, bound by the element of surprise.

And suppose one has finally come to understand the worth of his true purpose, to become an unplugged acoustic version of his truest creative self.

Perhaps, he can again see his life living in creative unity with an inner peace. As again, he begins to notice his surroundings start to synchronize upon the collective campaign trail of what it is the universe, may or may not have in store for him.

Of this though, will he ever truly know?

Probably not, and that in itself, isn’t worth spending too much time chewing on.

Perhaps maybe, he has finally learned that his creative work no longer pretends to be a burden upon his true purpose and his true purpose no longer a burden upon his creative work.

It could very well be that he no longer views creative contemplation as something that he must set aside in the void of his own silence.

Or, that he no longer feels the need to play his part within a sheepish society that constantly buys into the false narratives created by the powers that be.

Because, I, myself, no longer wish to account for anyone but me, my family, my child, my way with words, and my kitchen staff.

And this is wherein lies the paramount of purpose. It is not that I ever wished to cease being an ordinary man, so that I may be deemed a warrior or a saint, but to accept with unconditional love what my true purpose is, and that is to be a chef of the culinary arts and written words, if only to dish out a poem du jour here and there and other amazing things that taste and smell and feel rather delicious.

The truth of the matter is, is that a chef is the choice I chose as to what to be in this life, and somewhere along the way I decided that should try my hand at creatively writing things.

And I will continue to write and create and lead by example as best as I can, but only when I am able to without biting the creative hand that feeds me and forcing things.

But at end of the day and lucky for me, everybody's hungry for something both sweet and savory, and has to eat eventually.

Til the next time.

Yours Truly,

Ryan Love
